Lakers delay Jackson's contract negotiations - 2004-02-12
The Los Angeles Lakers suspended negotiations to lengthen coach Phil Jackson's contract until after the season.
The five-year, $30 million agreement Jackson signed in June 1999 concludes at the end of the season.
The Lakers were big favorites to win their fourth NBA championship in five years under Jackson this season, and won 18 of their first 21 games.
"Everyone concerned in this important transaction understands the business side of basketball," Jackson's agent, Todd Musburger, reported Friday.

Bucks out to enhance past road performance - 2004-02-12
The Milwaukee Bucks have dispersed all those grim projections about being the worst team in the league this year with a completely revamped general manager, coach and roster.
They only hope to show more people their fabulous brand of basketball over the second half of the season.

"I think we all know that whatever was said before the season was not true," forward Toni Kukoc declared. "People just didn't know how quick we were going to get our chemistry together. We've shown that we can play pretty good basketball."
