ERNIE BARNES PAINTS HIS SUCCESS: Former football player - 2004-02-13
Ernie Barnes played professional football for five seasons for the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos, but gave up the football career for the canvas.

In 1965, New York Jets owner David (Sonny) Werblin recognized his artistic potential and replaced his football salary for one season so he could dedicate his time to painting. A year later, Barnes' had a critically-acclaimed professional debut at the prestigious Grand Central Art Galleries in New York.

One of the most recognizable pieces that might give one a sense of his ability is the drawing seen on "Good Times" called the "Sugar Shack."

Indicted dopers plead innocent, released from jail - 2004-02-13
Four men charged with distributing steroids to top athletes pleaded innocent to federal charges Friday and were released.

The government alleged in a 42-count indictment Thursday that they illegally supplied performance-enhancing drugs to dozens of athletes in the National Football League, baseball's major leagues and track and field. No athletes were named in the indictments.
