LA Lakers delay contract discussions with coach Phil Jackson - 2004-02-13
The Los Angeles Lakers delayed negotiations to lengthen coach Phil Jackson's contract until the season is over.
The Lakers were serious contenders to win their fourth NBA championship in five years under Jackson this season, and won 18 of their first 21 games.
"Everyone concerned in this important transaction understands the business side of basketball," Jackson's agent, Todd Musburger, stated Thursday.

Perhaps because the Sacramento Kings are a small-town team, it's a true honor to be considered their greatest hick. In the locker room, the players frequently jokingly compare their humble beginnings - and Brad Miller usually wins.
But underneath Miller's tough exterior is ambition that hasn't faded in the sixth season of his unlikely NBA career.

Geoff Petrie, the Kings' president of basketball operations, outsmart Denver, Utah, Dallas and other suitors by engineering a three-team transfer for Miller last July.
